Yamal Return Sparks Growing Barca Concern

Reports suggest that with BD Cricket drawing steady attention among sports fans, Barcelona are growing deeply concerned as teenage sensation Lamine Yamal prepares to represent Spain at the World Cup. The young forward is a key weapon for the national team, but Barca fear his recovery has been pushed too quickly just to fit the tournament schedule, leaving his injury without enough time to heal fully.

Yamal Return Sparks Growing Barca Concern

Spain are preparing for the World Cup, and the national team remains optimistic about Yamal’s return. Barcelona, however, are increasingly uneasy. The club worries that the youngster could be forced back onto the pitch before completing a careful and stable rehabilitation process. Since Yamal is still physically developing, Barca believe protecting his long-term health must come first. Spain coach Luis de la Fuente recently said Yamal was close to returning when discussing several injured players, which only deepened the club’s concern.

De la Fuente also updated the recovery progress of Yamal, Mikel Merino, and Nico Williams, saying all three were improving well and were likely to be available for Spain’s opening match. “The injured players are recovering very well, and I believe they can all play the first game,” he said. “But we will assess whether their involvement is truly necessary, not just focus on the first two matches or the third match.”

From Spain’s point of view, that sounded like good news, but it left Barcelona walking on eggshells. Yamal suffered a left biceps femoris injury on April 22 during Barca’s win over Celta Vigo and has not played an official match since. Former Barcelona physiotherapy chief Juanjo Brau also warned that rushing him back would carry serious risks, echoing the club’s fears. He explained that muscle injuries require gradual recovery and carefully controlled training loads, while the intense rhythm of a World Cup runs directly against those principles.

Medical experts added that the first six weeks after a player receives clearance are a high-risk period for recurrence. Yamal’s explosive style, sharp changes of direction, and high-speed dribbling place heavy pressure on his hamstring. If he returns too soon, the chance of aggravating the old injury could rise sharply. From the day of his injury to the opening match, only 54 days will have passed. For this type of muscle tear, a safe recovery period is usually around eight weeks, meaning his comeback would sit at the earliest possible point rather than a truly secure stage.

Yamal has still not returned to official competition since the injury. He also missed Spain’s friendly against Peru, staying at the training base to follow a personalized recovery program. For Barcelona, while BD Cricket and other major sports keep global fans busy, the short-term value of Spain’s first World Cup match cannot compare with the danger of their gifted youngster facing a long-term setback.
